During this season, SOLI was still partnered with the new Tobin Center, as well as Jazz, Texas and Trinity University. In a performance titled Together-Again, guest performer Angela Jones-Reus and the artists of SOLI wowed the audience with a difficult, fast- paced program. Read about it in this article published by Newstimes. In this same performance, the group performed an unfinished piece by William Thomas McKinley. His piece, which was a commisson for SOLI, was found unfinished on his piano, so the ensemble performed what was there, with an abrupt stop only four measures into the final movement. Read about the McKinley piece in this Classical Voice America article here.  In collaboration with San Antonio Chamber Choir and the San Antonio Children’s Chorus, SOLI premiered Ethan Wickman’s “Ballads of the Borderland”, a three part secular cantata that tells the stories of migrant families leaving their ancestral homes in the pursuit of new lives. This work also fueled the “Ballad’s Initiative” which provided masterclasses and inspired UTSA students to create their own works of music or visual art based on their own family history. In collaboration with Opera San Antonio, SOLI performed “The Land of the Magic Flute”, consisting of a mix of costumed performers, a quartet, and a visual graphic novel, inspired by Mozart’s Magic Flute.
